If you have discovered that your water softening system is not working as it should, you might want to try to troubleshoot the problem before calling in a repair technician. Replace The Filter

You will want to replace your disposable deionization filter if it appears to be a little clogged. If you have a filter that is not disposable, you will simply want to give it a good cleaning. Look For Chunks Of Salt

Gently break apart the clumps of salt until you are able to feel around with the broom handle and no longer notice any more lumps. This might be something that you will want to periodically check for so that it never causes you a problem again in the future.

If the water softening system does not seem to be powering up at all, it might not be the system itself. It could be that the breaker that it is tied to is flipped into the off position. This will happen when a breaker becomes overloaded with the need for power. It acts as a safety precaution. An occasional flipped breaker is nothing to worry about. Simply flip it back on. However, if this is starting to happen a lot more recently, you might have a problem with the water softening system, which is causing it to work the breakers much harder than normal.
